Roman blinds are the perfect, flexible window dressing. In the past, they were mostly linked with areas like the kitchen and bathroom but can actually be employed anywhere in the home. They look stunning in the living room and absolutely fabulous in the bedroom.
Roman blinds are made of fabric which pleats when raised. This is because they use mounting slats that are lifted and lowered by cords at the back of the panels.
They come in a whole range of different designs and fabrics which makes them an ideal choice if you are looking for something decorous and out of the ordinary to complement your interior design.
How Do You Clean Roman Blinds?
Roman blinds are pretty easy to maintain and keep clean, even in areas like the kitchen and bathroom. Because they are made of material, we don’t advise washing them as this can cause shrinkage. It’s much better to have them dry cleaned.
In between dry cleaning, you can also remove any dust using a soft brush vacuum extension.
What Thickness of Fabric Works Best With Roman Blinds?
Most modern fabrics work well with blinds but at Goldman’s, we take care of that for you. The thickness of your blinds will depend on how much light you want to come through but there’s a huge selection to choose from.
Can Roman Blinds be Made to Measure?
All our roman blinds can be tailored to your space and you don’t have to worry that they will be either a little too big or too small.
Should Roman Blinds be Fitted Inside or Outside a Recess?
This comes down to a matter of choice. Some people prefer their blinds fitting flush inside the recess, others want them outside and overlapping a little. A lot can depend on the depth of the recess especially in older houses. With a deeper recess, putting the blinds inside makes much better sense.
Can Roman Blinds be Motorised?
Motorised blinds that can be raised or lowered at the touch of a button or operated with a mobile device such as a smartphone are becoming increasingly popular. We have a number of remote control options for our blinds at Goldman’s Interiors and will be happy to discuss them with you.
Are Roman Blinds Easy to Fit?
Of all the types of blinds, Roman ones are probably the easiest to fit and don’t take that long to put up.
How Do I Measure for Roman Blinds?
You’ll need a metal tape measure, a pencil and a pad to jot everything down. Decide whether you are going to fit the blinds, either inside the recess or outside.
Measure three times from recess to recess for the width, one at the top, one in the middle and one at the bottom. Then make three more measurements for the length. What this does is give you a good average measurement to fit the whole window.
